Welcome to
A very warm welcome to Calderwood Primary School’s website.
Calderwood is a happy school, with a warm, welcoming and inclusive ethos. We have high expectations of pupils’ learning and achievement, and we encourage our pupils to develop a love of learning and to play a responsible and caring role in the life of our school, our local community and the wider world. We value pupil voice and promote leadership across our community. We aim to provide a learning environment where all children are supported and challenged to reach their full potential. We value inclusion and celebrate diversity - our children are at the heart of everything we do.
We value our fantastic school community and our 421 AMAZING pupils!

Calderwood
Parent Council
Every parent automatically becomes a member of the Parent Forum when their child starts school, enabling them to get involved with school life in whatever way they can, whether it is helping out on a trip or disco, participating in parent curriculum workshops, supporting an extra-curricular sports activity, sharing knowledge with a group of children in the classroom or as a representative on the Parent Council.
The Calderwood Parent Council is one of the most active in the region and raises over £10,000 a year to support school activities. What makes this possible is the generosity and hard work of parents and the wider school community when they participate in events organised by the Parent Council such as the Summer and Christmas Fairs. The money raised is used by the school to fund a range of activities and items including: funding all school trips, sports equipment, the latest IT equipment and outdoor learning.
However, it’s not just about raising money. The Parent Council offers parents the opportunity to have an input into discussions around important issues affecting the school and enables parents to play an active role in school improvement activities and identifying priorities and next steps.
Our Parent Council warmly welcome anyone who comes along to meetings. They meet once a month in the school, usually on the first Thursday of the month, from 7 – 9pm.
