Extra Curricular Clubs NEW!!! As we are now in December and things start to get busier in school and at home for our families, most of our lunch time and after school clubs have now stopped. Please check the weekly calendar to see which clubs are still on.
Christmas Fair A warm welcome is extended to our fantastic Calderwood families, friends and the wider community to come along to our annual Christmas Fair on Saturday 30th November from 10am until 2pm. Our fantastic parent council have planned another amazing fair with lots of fantastic stalls, activities and surprises to get us all into the festive spirit.
Parent Helpers We are always on the look-out for extra help. If you can help out in any way, either for one-off excursions or on a more regular basis, please complete the slip attached to the November 2019 Newsletter and return to the school office. (Grans, grandads and other family members are very welcome, too.)
Primary 2 Radio Lollipop Fundraising Event - Tuesday 12th November On Tuesday 12th November, Primary 2 will be hosting a fundraising day for Radio Lollipop. There will be cakes, games, crafts and plenty of surprises throughout the day for all of the children to enjoy. If possible, children can bring a small amount of money to purchase cakes and goodies, as well as play some of the games including ‘Lollipop Lucky Dip’ and ‘Guess the Age of the Teddy Bear’. Each class will have a 15 minute slot to visit the gym hall to take part in fundraising activities to help raise as much money for this wonderful charity as Calderwood possibly can.
Primary 2 and have been learning about charities and have decided to host a fundraising event to raise money for Radio Lollipop in Glasgow Children's Hospital. Radio Lollipop is a charitable organisation providing care, comfort, play and entertainment services for children in hospital. It organises volunteer play makers to spend time with children in wards and provides a radio station playing children's programming, partly presented by the children themselves. Radio Lollipop believes in the healing power of play, providing smiles and laughter to children at a time when they need it most.
Parent Council 'Dress Down for a Donation' Day - Friday 15th November You may have noticed that the Parent Council are trying something slightly different with the donation day this year. They are asking for raffle and tombola items on Friday 15th November and are looking for toys, books and bric a brac slightly later, preferably the week of the fair. This is to help with storage and logistics. We hope that you get a chance to have a rummage around in the cupboards for any forgotten or unwanted gifts that we could potentially use for the raffle or tombola. All gifts and goodies are very welcome from the likes of boxed candles to a packet of shortbread or bar of chocolate - no item is too small. We are hugely grateful for any donation and please don't feel obliged to go and buy something - we really only want what folk have already! Thanks in advance for your help as we start to ramp up the preparations for our fab Christmas Fair.
