The Web Wizards are responsible for promoting safe and responsible internet use across the school. We are also leading the Pupil Hub area on our school website, making sure the links that are there are relevant to us as learners and can support us in practising what we have learned in school. The children are carrying out research in their classes about links that we would like to add to our Hub and are learning about Internet Safety so that we can share our knowledge with pupils, teachers and parents.

 Happy Heads .
"Keeping Calderwood Happy"

We all go through a range of emotions every day of our lives and these emotions affect our behaviours and relationships with others. They can determine if we are ‘happy’ or not. The aim of Happy Heads Leadership Group is to raise awareness throughout the school about the range of emotions we might experience, recognise how they can affect us, and provide ways that we can change them. We will encourage the children of Calderwood to feel comfortable sharing their emotions with others and provide ways to relax including Guided Meditation and Peer Massage.

Social and emotional wellbeing creates the foundations for healthy behaviours and educational attainment. It also helps prevent behavioural problems (including substance misuse) and mental health problems. That's why it is important to focus on the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.  (NICE advice [LGB12] Published date: September 2013)

 Globe Trotters.
In Calderwood, we would like our children to be prepared for living and working in a global society. Our Globetrotters group will have the opportunity to work with Stonelaw to form a partnership with a school in South Africa.  They will share their progress with the rest of the school and children across all stages will have the opportunity to communicate with similar aged children in the UK and overseas. We will also be thinking of different ways to encourage Calderwood to make a difference in our local community. We are very excited!!

Leadership

At Calderwood Primary School we work to foster leadership skills in all pupils. It is so important that our young people develop skills which they can use throughout their life and in their work, especially in the development of their enterprising and social skills. By giving every pupil responsibility for an aspect of life in their school, it empowers them to take control of their learning and helps them to see that they can make a difference in their school community and beyond in the wider world.

Getting it Right for Every Child
Litter Patrol
The Litter Patrol are responsible for keeping Calderwood Primary School and local community clean and free of litter. We have discussed what litter is and why it is so important to make sure we put our litter in the bin. We are really looking forward to encouraging the children in our school and people in the local area to always put their litter in the bin. We are currently working on a writing litter free environment pledge and are looking forward to getting as many people as we can to sign it. We are also working on ways to monitor who is dropping litter and how to stop this. The children have some really exciting ideas. We have created some posters and we will be distributing these around the school and playground. Look out for these around our school and remember to always put your litter in the bin!
